How much does Notion cost?
Notion’s pricing is built around a free plan plus three paid tiers, and the right one depends mostly on whether you’re an individual, a collaborating team, or an organization that needs security and admin controls.
The Free plan costs nothing and is more capable than most. Individuals get unlimited pages and blocks, and small teams get a shared collaborative workspace. For personal use, a side project, or a small team’s early days, it’s often all you need, which is part of why Notion has such a loyal free user base.
The Plus plan starts at $10 per seat per month (billed annually) and is the natural step up for teams. It removes the block limit for collaboration, adds unlimited file uploads and guests, and gives you 30-day page history. For most small teams that have outgrown free, this is the tier.
The Business plan is $15 per seat per month and targets larger teams that need SAML single sign-on, private team spaces, longer 90-day page history, and bulk export. If you’re managing access across departments, the admin features start to matter here.
The Enterprise plan is custom-priced and quoted on request. It adds advanced security, an audit log, user provisioning, and deeper admin controls for organizations with compliance needs. If you’re asking whether you need Enterprise, you probably don’t yet.
One thing to budget for separately: Notion AI is an add-on charged per member per month, not included in these plan prices. If you want the AI assistant and writing features, factor that on top.
Is there a free plan or trial?
Yes, and Notion’s free plan is the real story. Rather than a time-limited trial, the Free plan never expires and gives individuals unlimited pages and blocks, plus a collaborative space for small teams. It’s enough to run personal projects and light team work indefinitely, and it’s the best way to learn whether Notion’s flexible approach suits how you think.
Because the free plan is so capable, Notion doesn’t rely on a separate trial countdown. You start free, build out your workspace, and upgrade only when you hit a limit like collaborative blocks, file size, or the need for SSO. That low-pressure path is one of Notion’s nicer qualities.
Is Notion worth the price?
Notion sits at the affordable end of paid workspace tools, and whether it’s worth paying for depends on how you use it.
It’s excellent value for individuals and teams using it as a combined hub, docs, wikis, notes, and lightweight databases in one place. Many users genuinely never need to leave the free plan, and those who do find Plus a fair price for unlocking real team collaboration. The flexibility to shape your own system is the payoff.
It’s a more nuanced call for teams that want dedicated project management. Notion can be built into a capable project tool, but only if you’re willing to invest the setup time, and even then it lacks the out-of-the-box dependencies, workload views, and reporting of purpose-built tools. If you’d rather have structure handed to you, the value proposition weakens, and a dedicated project tool may be money better spent.
